What To Know Before Going to See Ringling Bros

Disclosure: I am a Feld Family Ambassador, and in exchange for my time and efforts in attending shows and reporting my opinion within this blog, as well as keeping you advised of the latest discount offers, Feld Entertainment has provided me with complimentary tickets to Feld shows.  Even though I receive these benefits, I always give an opinion that is 100% mine.

Looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend? Check out Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® The Greatest Show On Earth® at the Golden One Center from September 13-15, 2024. Save on select seats with Discount Code SAVE20 for 20% off - be sure to insert the code BEFORE selecting seats. It's not active on all seating.

Our family attended opening night Friday's show and we had an absolute blast! This is such a fun show with non-stop entertainment. The performers performed amazing flips at record heights, seriously so talented. We loved the stunts, music, and interaction with the crowd, it totally exceeded my expectations. We took our three-year old nephew and he was completely enthralled the entire show.

There were no clowns, which was completely okay with us, my kiddos are not big clown fans. There were no animals, which before the show, I was kind of bummed to hear that, only because my childhood memories of the circus included animals, but after attending the show, I honestly didn't feel it was missed. We all thoroughly enjoyed Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® The Greatest Show On Earth® and highly recommend you check it out this weekend at Golden 1 Center.  Find tickets here

If you would like to see some glimpses of our fun, check out my Instagram stories and follow us on TikTok and Facebook. We sat in section 108, Row CC, the seats were amazing, highly recommend anywhere near that area. There are three showtimes this Saturday and two showtimes on Sunday.

This really is a unique and amazing experience - this is the first time Ringling has ever performed in the Golden 1 Center! The last time it was in Sacramento it shut down the old arena. It was the final production to perform there before the Golden 1 Center opened about two weeks later. So it's really special to bring it there - and I'm sure many of your littles have never seen the original Ringling Bros. circus - a century-long tradition! Ringling Bros. and Barnum &. Bailey's Circus has been around longer than baseball!

Things to know before you go:

Golden 1 Center has a no-bag policy. Only small clutches and wallets smaller than 8"x6"x1" are allowed, they are strict on this, so leave your purses and bags at home, or consolidate them into a small fanny pack size bag.  They permit infant bags and medical bags.  All bags must go through an X-ray machine.

Arrive Early - Give yourself plenty of time to locate your parking spot, get through the security checkpoints, and find your seats.  Another benefit to arriving early is you will avoid the long lines at the concession stands.

Parking - visit SacPark.org or use ParkWhiz to reserve your parking ahead of time. We parked at The Emerald Tower, (373 N Street), it is a short walk and only $8. There is always a crowd of people walking to nearby parking.

The concession stands accept Apple Pay, which I love because then I just need my phone. They had merch and souvenirs for sale as well as snow cones, popcorn, and Golden 1 Center Food (nachos, hot dogs, pizza, and more). The popcorn and cotton candy come with your choice of a hat, a dragon hat, a cap with silly hair, or a tall Ringling themed hat. Popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cone cups were $20 each. I think there was a snow cone cup option for $16 as well, just depends on the style of cup you choose.

Best Golden 1 Center Deal - The Refillable Souvenir Cup!  At only $10 you will receive unlimited refills and a souvenir cup to take home. Show your Souvenir Cup at the counter and they will give you free refills. Be sure to refill before intermission, they do stop giving refills right around that time.

Length of Show - Each show is two hours long, and there is a brief intermission in the middle, which gives you time to use the restroom, stretch your legs and purchase yummy treats! I recommend going right before intermission, (45-55 minutes after start time) because the lines get pretty long for both the restrooms and concessions if you wait until the house lights go on.  Or if you can wait about fifteen minutes after intermission, you won't have to wait in long lines.
