Recently my husband and I had been wanting to do a yard sale to get rid of some stuff.  Over time "things"  have managed to accumulate in our garage and closets.

We have sold and purchased things on Craigslist before as well as Facebook Marketplace but never a lot of items at one time.  We decided instead of dragging everything out to our front yard and sitting out front an entire day trying to sell stuff, we would take pictures and post the items on Facebook Marketplace.

We were super surprised at how well the items sold and how quickly they moved.  I thought I would share this is a great way to purge your garage or sell those no longer needed baby items, really anything.

We went through our house and  we were able to sell seldom used toys, gently used clothes and shoes, as well as furniture we needed to get rid of.  Most of the big items sold rather quickly over the weekend that we posted them, the smaller items took a little longer but everything we posted SOLD.  This is an excellent way to make some extra money maybe for the upcoming holidays.

When you go to list an item for sale, there is usually a Facebook Yard Sale Group specific to your neighborhood, you can also list in nearby neighborhoods to expand your reach.

If there is no interest on an item, try grouping that item with other items.  Instead of trying to sell one small toy, group it with a set of toys and sell as a "lot".  We found this to be very helpful.  This especially comes in handy with selling kids toys or clothing.  Most people do not want to drive to someone's house for one item.

Make sure to take close up pictures of the item in daylight.  Be sure to disclose if there are scratches, tears, or any wear and tear.

If the item is a brand name, include the brand name in the title.

There is a whole language to selling and buying things online so I thought I would share some of that lingo with you in case you do not know.  Many times on a post you will see an abbreviation of letters, this is what they mean.
NIL - next in line
PP - porch pick up, meaning they will leave the item on their porch and you leave cash in discussed area (mailbox, under the door mat, etc).
PPU - pending pick up
PM - private message sent or requesting you to private message them regarding the item.
INT - if someone comments INT means they are interested, if you do not sell to the people above who have reached out, they want to be contacted.
Cross Posted can also be posted as x-posted or XP- means the seller and posted the item on other places to sell.
Bump - bring up my post, people will write "bump" in the comments of a post to have recent activity.
F - if you see someone comment F, means they are following the post.  Maybe watching to see if the price drops or if no ones purchases then they will.
BNIB - brand new in box
Firm - if you see this listed with an item, means the seller is firm in the price, does not want to negotiate.
OBO - if you see this listed with an item, means the seller is listing the item for a price along with or best offer, meaning they are willing to negotiate.
SF - smoke free
ISO - if you see an item listed with this, means the person is in search of that item, not selling the item.
NH - means no holds, first person to arrive and pick up, as agreed will receive the item.

I also wanted to share some safety tips to keep in mind.  You should not share your exact address on the original post.  Once a buyer has messaged you, and you agree on a meeting time, you should only give them the area you are located in, then when they say they are on their way give exact address.  Too often if you give your address out right at the beginning, the buyer can cancel, or then you end of changing times, you could have said a time frame or window that you would not be home and then they have you address as well as know you are not home.

If possible you can meet people at a public location rather than giving out your home address, you can meet at Starbucks or grocery store nearby.

Try not to meet at night, daytime hours are safer.
If possible schedule meetups when a spouse, or another adult is present.

You want to be wise and cautions as you are selling and buying from people you do not know.

We found selling on Facebook Marketplace extremely helpful and easy to use.  Selling online also came in handy since it was during the summer, we did not have to spend a Saturday out in the heat.  While Fall is a great time for a yard sale, with the cooler weather, we also have winter and the rainy season upon us.  Utilizing Facebook Marketplace is a great way to still accomplish your "yard sale" no matter what the weather is like.

I first heard about the Ketofit Bar at a Norcal Keto Meetup we attended.  My husband and I both received a Ketofit Bar in our swag bag.  We have tasted a variety of Keto friendly bars and this one by far is absolutely the BEST tasting.
We have some close favorites, but most Keto and Low Carb bars have what I describe as a chalky aftertaste, some even taste like medicine to me.

This Ketofit Bar is absolutely delicious. It literally tastes like a candy bar! Best of all it only has 3 net carbs.

After finding out how delicious they were, I reached out to the company only to inquire if they were sold in stores anywhere, because honestly I hate paying shipping for stuff.  I always check to see if I can purchase locally or on Amazon.

I did not reach out to them to do a review, I planned on purchasing these bars, that is how much I loved them.  They quickly responded to my message and at this current time are only available on-line they generously offered to ship me a couple of boxes in exchange for my honest review.  They also provided a 20% off discount code for YOU!!!

Try the Ketofit Bars for yourself enter the promo code BLOG at checkout and save $7 on a box.  The Ketofit Bar's are $35 for a box of 12 which comes to a little less than $3 a bar.  With the BLOG discount you'll only pay $2.33 a bar.
Shop here https://www.ketofitbar.com/collections/all

I love to have bars for when I need a quick meal on the go or a sweet treat.  These bars come in handy on those early Soccer Saturday mornings when I don't have time to make breakfast.  My husband loves having the Ketofit Bars while he is at work.  You can blend these bars in your coffee as well.
When I have a sweet craving these are my go to bars.  I took a close up of the Ketofit bar to showcase the chunks of chocolate you will find throughout the bars.
Upon visiting the Ketofit Bar website and reading their story, I am a greater fan!  This company and bar was created by Anthony a police officer.  He injured his back and was dealing with chronic back pain, that is how he began his ketogenic journey.  If you have followed my Keto journey, you know I can relate.  I too, injured my back and have been focused on healing and living healthier.

Yesterday I was invited to tour the BRAND NEW Save Mart supermarket in Modesto, CA.  The store officially opens to the public TODAY, Wednesday, October 2, 2019.  If you are in the Modesto area, this is going to be your new favorite supermarket!
WOW! Built from the ground up, the new Save Mart is impressive.  You can check out some live video and pictures I shared from my sneak peak preview on my Instagram and Facebook page.  The NEW Save Mart is located at 3401 Oakdale Road (At the corner of Oakdale Road and Sylvan Avenue, Modesto, CA).
Save Mart really rolled out the red carpet for this preview night.  We were treated to samples of all the specialty foods and services.  A few of my favorite things are the Tipping Point Restaurant inside the store, you can read more about that below.  I sampled their tacos and they were delicious.  This store has fresh made tortillas you can see come right off the tortilla conveyor belt.
They offer fresh roasted nuts and self serve fresh made peanut butter, almond butter and more.  The friendly and helpful staff are excited and eager to assist you in your grocery shopping experience.
Save Mart really considered busy families, they know we love convenience, and have great self-serve options, they have hot food and cold food options that are easy to grab and go to make meal times easier for the those on the go.  They will smoke, marinate and even grill meats for you while you shop at no extra cost!
The new Save Mart has partnered with an innovative company Cadence Kitchen.  They flash freeze food, that only requires you to heat in a skillet, no butter or oil is needed.  Cadence Kitchen enables you to go from freezer to fork in just minutes.  They have quite a variety of food items, perfect for those busy nights when you have no time to cook.
Also Sacramento people and surrounding areas will be happy to learn of Save Mart's new partnership with DoorDash!  Save Mart announced DoorDash delivery of their most sought after prepared foods and custom-made sandwiches. The service is available now in many communities throughout the greater Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto areas. The company plans for an expansion throughout the Central Valley, Bay Area and Reno in the coming months.

The DoorDash offers shoppers the quick, on-demand delivery of hot food items like whole Rotisserie Chickens, Chicken Tender Bites, salads, custom-made sandwiches and desserts. Menu hours are open from 10:30AM to 7:30PM daily.
“Our aim is to meet shoppers where they are at—literally. DoorDash delivery offers a quick, convenient meal solution and complements our home delivery services,” explains Bobby McDowell, Vice President of Operations for Save Mart.
The Save Mart Companies (TSMC) celebrated the opening of its 54,000 square foot, prototype Save Mart store today, following an evening of celebration with local elected officials, community groups and foodies from throughout the Central Valley. During the event, local muralist, Aaron Vickery, painted a live art piece, which will be hung in the store, and guests were entertained with music from Neil Buettner and a performance by the Beyer High School Cheerleaders. Save Mart has made its home in the heart of the Valley since 1952 and takes pride in the creation of this new store that strongly reflects its heritage and celebrates the traditions, products and flavors that make Modesto home.
“Modesto is more than where we are, it’s who we are. We’re family-owned with deep roots and longstanding friendships with local ranchers, farmers and producers who help fulfill our vision every day. It means a lot to us to be part of this neighborhood because this is where we grew up and are now raising our own families,” explained Nicole Pesco, Chief Executive Officer of The Save Mart Companies. “We’re proud of our hometown and the hardworking people who live here.”
Local forms the heart of the store, bringing people home with sights, smells and tastes that affirm the Valley’s everyday life and values—taking care of family on a budget, appreciating agricultural roots and evolving flavors. From the minute they enter the store, our guests will recognize products from local farms and purveyors—like Fiscalini cheese, Ratto Bros. produce, Rosie’s Donuts, Diamond Almonds and Dust Bowl beer.
“Save Mart’s new state-of-the-art supermarket will not only serve the local community by providing fresh wholesome food, but will provide great jobs to local residents,” said Dave White, Executive Director of Opportunity Stanislaus, the leading non-profit organization committed to improving the economic vitality of the region. “The Save Mart Companies plays a unique role in Stanislaus County with its headquarters here and the company’s commitment to sourcing products from local growers and purveyors to their network of 207 stores.”
Signature experiences, farm stand-style produce, loads of freshly-made options, and new ideas in every aisle make this store a destination for shoppers from throughout the region. A highly specialized store team provides services new to the Save Mart stores, including sliced-to-order produce preparation, ground-to-order sausage-making, marinated- and grilled-to-order meats.  Further, cheese and seafood specialists will roam the store providing guests insight on food pairings and how to prepare the season’s fresh fare.
The Tipping Point, a fast-casual restaurant with both indoor and outdoor garden seating, is located inside the store and features tri-tip barbequed to perfection and served five different ways— wet or dry sandwich, torta, taco or salad alongside street corn, churros and other favorite side dishes. The Tipping Point will have a wide selection of local beer and wine on tap. It features Dust Bowl, Blaker Brewery, Heretic, Drakes, 21st Amendment, and Tioga. It also hosts four William Hill and Louis M. Martini wines on tap, along with a variety of bottled wines. Local selections will change seasonally and be announced to followers on the store’s Facebook page click here. The Tipping Point food menu and other signature prepared foods from throughout the new store’s hot bar and our service deli will be available for on-demand delivery by DoorDash.

“I’m thrilled to open this new store. We truly had the Modesto family in mind when we developed our food selection, created our prepared foods and picked the services to delight our guests,” commented Jerald Smith, Store Director for Modesto’s Store 1. “We have assembled an excellent team to ensure a great experience for our guests every time they shop—and that experience will evolve as we test new ideas and concepts for the company.”

Another value Save Mart shares with the Central Valley is a strong sense of community. Garden beds located in the midst of the Tipping Point’s outdoor seating will be planted and maintained by the horticulture clubs of the local Kiernan Klover and Empire 4H clubs. Twice annually, they will host a produce sale in front of the store to raise funds for their clubs.

“Kiernan Klovers are excited to be working with Save Mart! We are grateful and thankful to bring a horticulture project to our group and members,” explained Jamie Smith, President of the Kiernan Klovers 4H Club. In addition to their partnership with 4H, the company made a $30,000 donation to the new Awesome Spot accessible playground just down the block from the store and a $20,000 donation to the United Way of Stanislaus County for coordination of homeless services.

Modesto’s new Save Mart store will also serve as an innovation center for the company, that operates 207 stores throughout California and Northern Nevada under the banners of FoodMaxx, Lucky and Save Mart. Based in the Central Valley, TSMC is committed to sourcing a wide variety of local products to communities throughout California and Northern Nevada. In addition to its retail operation, the company also operates Smart Refrigerated Transport and is a partner in Super Store Industries (SSI), which owns and operates a distribution center in Lathrop and the Sunnyside Farms dairy processing plant in Turlock.

Brand New Save Mart Opens in Modesto, CA
