Calling all Chick-fil-A-Fans!  Every year Chick-Fil-A celebrates 'Cow Appreciation Day' it is typically celebrated on the 2nd Tuesday in July from restaurant opening until 7 PM!  What is Cow Appreciation Day you ask?  Cow Appreciation Day is Chick-fil-A’s largest, single-day customer appreciation event and celebrates the quick-service chain’s iconic “Eat Mor Chikin”™ Cows. If you dress in a cow costume you receive FREE food!  Adults receive a free entrée and kids dressed in a cow costume receive a free kids meal.

Chick-fil-A began celebrating Cow Appreciation Day in 2005 and participation has grown each year, as Chick-fil-A has expanded across the country.

Our family has participated in the last few years and it is a lot of fun.  First, of all, we LOVE Chick-fil-A food and it’s neat to see all the different costumes.  It’s also nice that is in July every year during summer break, it’s something fun to do with the kids.  Be sure to use #CowAppreciationDay on social media to share your photos and to search for costume ideas!

It is easy to make your own DIY Cow Costume.  In years past we have kept it simple using either a white or black t-shirt and then cut out cow spots out of construction paper and taped them to our shirts.  I cut out cow bell shapes using cereal boxes and put them on a lanyard.  You could use a paper plate to make a cow mask.  I have seen people use white garbage bags and they cut out head and arm holes and then draw on cow spots with a sharpie.

Chick-Fil-A is really great about helping you create your cow costume.  They usually have free printable’s on their website and many times when we have attended they have a table outside with free cow spot stickers and cow paper hats they give you to participate.

This year I bought white shirts for $2 each, and I purchased black fabric paint for $3.  I painted 6 t-shirts and still have half a bottle of paint left.  I figured since we attend every year, I would make shirts that will last for a couple of years.  The taped spots are easy to do, but they fall off and when you have four kids and usually some cousins in tow, you end up having to re-stick a lot of spots, so the painted spots will eliminate that.

I hope you are able to participate and enjoy Chick-fil-A’s great food and friendly staff.  You can visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner!  From open until 7 PM!
