Disclosure: We were invited to experience the Magical Christmas Train, in exchange for my time and efforts in attending and reporting my opinion within this blog. Even though I receive these benefits, I always give an opinion that is 100% mine.

We had so much fun on the West Sacramento River Fox Magical Christmas Train, this was our first time on this train here in Sacramento. I am so grateful for holiday experiences, that help us carve out family time to enjoy time together and make Christmas memories. Tickets are already selling out, so if you want to experience the Magical Christmas train, book your reservations TODAY

The location was easy to find just west of Sacramento International Airport off Interstate 5 at River Fox Train 18095 County Road 117 West Sacramento, CA 95691. We parked and headed to the train boarding location. We entered the train, gave them our names, and were given a boarding pass to head to the Reindeer Train Car.

You want to arrive early and give yourself time to enjoy the decorations and shop outside before boarding the train. There are plenty of tables outside to sit at while you wait to board.

Once onboard the train at our table, there was a menu to purchase additional snacks and beverages such as pretzels, chips, popcorn, candy, soda, coffee, and more. Your tickets come with a cookie and hot chocolate for each person. You get to take home the hot chocolate souvenir cup. The hot cocoa was creamy and delicious!

We were entertained by Chestnut the Elf, who was quite the character. He told jokes, had us singing Christmas carols, and handed out Bingo Cards for a fun Christmas-themed game of Bingo.  If you won Bingo, Chestnut the Elf handed out prizes, small toys, and candy canes. There was also a sing-a-long with a guitarist and of course time spent with Santa.

This is such a fun experience to be enjoyed with the entire family! This would be a great outing to invite the grandparents along to join in the Christmas cheer! My mom came along with us and this definitely helped usher us into the spirit of the season.

During this hourlong, 10-mile round trip, we enjoyed singing Feliz Navidad, Deck the Halls, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, sipping on our hot chocolate, and taking in the beautiful views of the river. Santa takes his time with each table interacting with each family and gives time for photos. I was so grateful he had my older teenagers laughing and posing for a fun photo.

The River Fox Magical Christmas Train runs November 26 through December 23 and tickets are $55 for adults, $45 for children ages 2 through 12, and $10 for ages two and younger. Book early, some train times are already sold out.

For Adults and Small Groups – November 25 through December 16

The River Fox is also launching the new Holiday Spirit Express, an hour-and-a-half train experience that is ideal for individuals and groups aged 18 and older. Departing on Fridays at 7 p.m. (November 25 through December 16), this train includes outdoor and indoor seating. As my kids are getting older I feel it gets more difficult to shop for them. When they are little it is easy to get them toys, and Legos and they were pretty much happy with just about anything. As they are getting older, I tend to find myself searching for practical gifts, things they will use throughout the year, and things that will last. Quality over quantity is key!

I always try and remind my children that Christmas is not just about gifts, although it is fun to give gifts and fun to receive gifts. Most importantly I try and have time for our family to reflect on all the blessings we have and try and emphasize time with family is priceless. Savoring the magic and what some would deem simple miracles all around us is so essential.

Here is a list of some gift ideas, some practical, and others experiences, and gifts that can be used throughout the year.

A practical gift that has become a tradition is Matching Pajamas, I am happy that they still let me do this and I hope they always do. It is one of my favorite holiday traditions. I used to give them their pajamas on Christmas Eve, and although they wear them all the way through the winter season, which is pretty good. I saw another mom share that she gives her family their matching pajamas on December 1st so they can wear them longer. I think that is a great idea! That will also be a great way to change it up this year since they already know matching pajamas are coming.

Books - we always gift our children a book or book set for Christmas, I hope to instill in them a love for reading. Sam's Club and Costco are great places to find deals on book sets. I also will always recommend supporting your local bookstores. Family Books & Gifts is a local bookstore I love to support, they not only have great books but also unique gift items.

Experiences - this is my favorite gift to give at Christmas, it is the gift that keeps on going.  Over the years we have done Raging Waters Season Passes, I am so sad they just announced they are closing the Sacramento location. I am still for any kind of experience gift ideas.

The Get Out Pass is a great one! It is not just for only one place, there are multiple experiences with the Get Out Pass.  This is available nationwide, if you are in Northern California like us here are some of the places you will find available, All-Star. Strikes Bowling Alley, Scandia, Country Club Lanes Arcade, Sea Quest, The California Automobile Museum, All-Star Karting, and so many more locations. They have a Black Friday Sale that is already live right now, so it is a great time to purchase! Use code BLOGABOUTITALL you'll save even more on top of the Black Friday deal that is available now. Regularly priced at $149.95, with the Black Friday deal it is $79.95, use code BLOGABOUTITALL to drop it down to $74.95

Sacramento Zoo Membership or SeaQuest Annual Pass. By the way, Sea Quest is included on the GetOutPass. Our Sacramento Zoo Membership is $60 for an adult or $175 for a family pack for two-adults and up to four kids. There are more options, read more here. The SeaQuest Annual Pass is $39.99, for more info click here.

Ice Skating - A fun way to gift tickets to your local ice skating rink would be a gift basket with hot cocoa, a beanie, or maybe a scarf and mittens. Here in Sacramento, we have the cutest outdoor ice rink in the heart of Downtown. Our kids love going ice skating, and with our busy schedule, it is a fun holiday treat.

Quarry Park Adventures - Located in Rocklin, CA, this Adventure Park has it all, zip-lining, rock climbing, aerial adventures and more! They have family packages and right now you can save with their holiday sales. Check out Quarry Park here

Discovery Kingdom Season Passes - One year we gifted our children Discovery Kingdom season passes and this was such a fun gift we used all year long. They often have great Black Friday deals on season passes, so keep your eye out for that.

Event Tickets - Monster Jam in January, Disney on Ice in February, Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, Imaginarium, Sacramento Kings Game Tickets, any other Football Game, Basketball Game, or Soccer Game depending on who you are shopping for. You can always print out a homemade ticket, or photo and wrap that up. Another idea would be to find a Christmas ornament that represents the experience you are gifting and wrap the ornament.

Classes - If you are a grandparent or an aunt or uncle, offer to pay for a class or set of classes. Cooking classes, music lessons, swimming classes, art classes, find out what interests them. This is a gift to both the parents and the child!

Subscription Gifts - Depending on your budget, if you can gift an annual subscription, others may be able to pay for a six-month subscription. Disney+, Netflix, Cinemark Movie Club, and whichever other subscriptions your loved ones may enjoy. If they already have this, you could still gift a coupon of some kind that says I want to pay for your Netflix for the next three months, six months, whatever works for you. Gift them cash or a Visa Gift Card. I know with the way prices have increased this would be a blessing to our family and those I know. I know quite a few families who recently canceled their Netflix or Disney+, and I know others who have told me they are not renewing their subscriptions.

Photo Gifts - I love photo gifts, they are priceless in my opinion. A photo gift can be a photo ornament or a photography session. I love these DIY Photo Ornaments I made years ago, I still have mine on my tree. One year I gifted the grandparents these of all the grandchildren. If you are local check out my photography friend Britney at YourCreativeCounterPart. Again a photography session would be a great gift to a family, but also if you know someone who is a small business owner. They would appreciate a gift for new headshots or images they can use for their business. Mapiful is another great photo gift option, they do more than just photos. I love giving a photo calendar to our family, again it is a practical gift they use all year, a calendar with everyone's birthdays, anniversaries, etc, and also a snapshot of family photos throughout the past year.

Consumables - I love homemade cookies and also love to gift homemade cookies. I feel like homemade goodies go unnoticed as for being on gift guides but definitely do not go unnoticed by the recipient. If you do not bake or cook, you can do a fruit basket, homemade caramel dip, or store-bought candy, popcorn balls, and baked goods maybe just repackaged and with your touch of creativity. Check out my TikTok of this easy homemade caramel.

Grazing Craving - This is a local gal I know Sheila who makes the most beautiful charcuterie boards, and charcuterie-style boxes. I have gifted these before and they have absolutely loved them. Check her page out on Instagram @GrazingCraving be sure to place your order early as she gets busy with the upcoming holidays. If you are hosting people over during the holidays this would be great to order and one less thing for you to make.

The Gift of Time - This can be different depending on who you are shopping for. If you are shopping for a mom gifting a house cleaner, babysitter, or professional organizer would be an amazing gift. Shopping for a college student, dinners delivered, house cleaner, car detailing, all of these are still giving them the gift of time, more time to study right. You could also schedule actual time together to do something, go somewhere, travel somewhere, a mother/daughter trip, a father/son trip, a sisters trip, the list goes on, again thought time together making memories, which is priceless.

About Imaginarium

In 2014, a team of entertainment fanatics set out to create the first-ever Chinese Lantern Festival in the United States. The vision was to create an experience for the entire family where attendees could venture through a park filled with awe-inspiring, illuminated exhibits including more than a milling lights, free entertainment, a carnival, ice-skating rink and more. The vision gave birth to “Global Winter Wonderland”. Years later, the lantern festival has morphed into Imaginarium, the largest holiday light festival in the U.S. operating at Cal Expo, the home of the CA State Fair & Food Festival. It has become a tradition that visitors from all over northern California attend.

Disclosure: We were invited to experience the Magical Christmas Train, in exchange for my time and efforts in attending and reporting my opinion within this blog. Even though I receive these benefits, I always give an opinion that is 100% mine.

We are so excited to experience the West Sacramento River Fox Magical Christmas Train later this month, we have never been. Tickets are already selling out, so if you want to experience the Magical Christmas trains, book your reservations TODAY! Below is some info on three different Christmas Train experiences from three locations West Sacramento, Fort Bragg, and Willits, California. We will be sure to share our experience later this month, be sure to follow us on Instagram and TikTok, that is where you will catch a peek inside the Magical Christmas Train first.

Revelers seeking a little holiday magic will feel like they’ve stepped into a Christmas storybook thanks to three-holiday trains within an easy drive of the Bay Area and greater Sacramento regions. Delightful rail adventures departing Willits, West Sacramento and Fort Bragg begin in late November and run through the month of December.

All of the classic enchantments will be in place— choose from experiences that include Santa’s workshop, hot chocolate and treats, glistening decorations, melodic carols, games, elves and even Santa himself. But it’s the awe-inspiring setting of Northern California’s flora and fauna that makes the experiences truly unforgettable.

These distinctive Christmas-themed outings are presented by Sierra Railroad, which operates the iconic Skunk Train in Willits and Fort Bragg, and the River Fox train in Sacramento. Booking early is important as passenger seats tend to sell out.

Willits – family-friendly – November 26 through December 31

Passengers are invited to sport a cozy sweater or holiday pajamas as they board the train for the Mr. Skunk and the Giant Christmas Tree adventure at the historic depot in Willits. The 16-mile roundtrip rail journey into the redwood forest is brimming with cheer as guests enjoy reindeer games, Christmas carols and seasonal treats (including adult beverages for mom and dad). The destination is Santa Mr. Skunk’s Wonderful Workshop, which consists of a giant redwood tree bedecked in Christmas splendor. On return to the Willits train depot, guests are invited to climb aboard a historic ‘Skunk’ motorcar for a special photo opportunity with Mr. Skunk himself.

The Willits Mr. Skunk and the Giant Christmas Tree train runs from November 26 through December 31. Trips average a duration of two hours. Tickets are $59.95; and other prices apply for dogs and VIP passes. Trains leave from downtown Willits located just off Highway 101. For tickets, visit skunktrain.com or call (707) 964-6371 for more information.

West Sacramento – family-friendly – November 26 through December 23

All aboard the River Fox Magical Christmas Train in West Sacramento for an outing that will usher friends and families into the spirit of the season. This is a chance to journey with Santa and his elves through the countryside of Yolo County with views of ivy-covered woodlands, colorful orchards and the glistening Sacramento River. During this hourlong, 10-mile round trip, guests enjoy hot chocolate, holiday cookies, a story time and even adult beverages for parents. Festive photo opportunities are also a joyful part of the day. It’s an easy location to reach, just west of Sacramento International Airport off Interstate 5.

Immersive entertainment will light up the night via the train’s merry band of elves; a strolling musician; a visit from Santa; charcuterie appetizers; and dessert. Two beverage tokens (alcohol or non-alcohol) are included with train ticket. Alcohol and snacks may be purchased aboard the train as well. First Class tickets include all of the amenities and reserved seating for $149 per passenger. Happy Hour Class tickets are $99 with a la carte amenities, and seating is first come, with limited indoor seating.

For tickets, visit riverfoxtrain.com/experiences/holiday-spirit-express or call (800) 866-1690.

Fort Bragg -- family-friendly – November 26 through December 31

Departing from the Fort Bragg depot and decorated with festive seasonal flair, the Skunk Train’s Pudding Creek Express traces the first tracks laid down by the California Western Railroad. Passengers enjoy a scenic seven-mile round trip along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary, which is home to blue herons, ospreys, egrets, and more. This one-hour and 15-minute journey stops at the Glen Blair Junction where guests may stretch their legs amid the ancient redwoods. Railbikes are another popular option for further exploration at a more leisurely pace. For tickets and information, visit skunktrain.com or call (707) 964-6371.

Located in the redwood forests of Northern California’s Mendocino County, the California Western Railroad / Skunk Train is a heritage railroad that has been operating both freight and passenger service since 1885. Initially used to move redwood logs to the Mendocino Coast sawmills from the rugged back country, the Skunk Train has become a beloved institution touted as one of the “10 Best Rail Tours in the Country” (USA Today), and a “Top 10 Family Activity in California” (National Geographic Traveler). The Skunk Train journey covers 40 miles of scenic delights; 30 bridges; and an 840-foot tunnel. The railroad has retained all of its original charm – minus the pungent smell that the engines used to emit, when people would say, you could “smell the Skunk before you could see it.” Operating year-round, the Skunk Train is a multi-generational experience, and riders can even bring along the family dog. For tickets and more information, visit SkunkTrain.com or call (707) 964-6371.

Built in 1911 by the Northern Electric Company, the River Fox Train’s 10-mile track originally transported passengers in the Sacramento area. Electric passenger travel ended in 1941, but the line remained active with diesel freight, creating a link between the fertile farmlands of the Sacramento Valley and the rest of California. In 2003, Sierra Railroad merged with the Yolo Shortline, continuing freight and reviving passenger trains under the name of Sacramento River Train. Today, the line is known as the River Fox Train, a sister of the world-famous Skunk Train built in 1885. From events like our Railbike rides; relaxing beer and wine trains; and holiday-themed outings, passengers can enjoy activities while reveling in nostalgic railroad charm. Visit RiverFoxTrain.com (800) 866-1690.

If you buy something I'll earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for your support of my blog!

Let's face it no matter where you go Christmas Trees are expensive, both real and artificial. I am not just saying King of Christmas has the BEST quality trees because they gifted me a flocked tree a few years ago, honestly they are the BEST. It is the reason why I purchased another one of their trees this year!

I purchased this beautiful 7' King Noble Fir with LED Lights and I am in love with it! I bought this tree during their Halloween sale this year. They currently have a Veterans Day sale advertised and I am sure they will have a Black Friday sale and of course, they'll have an after-Christmas sale. If you are in the market for a new Christmas Tree, go with King of Christmas you will be so happy with your purchase.

I have a Walmart-flocked Christmas Tree and it makes an absolute mess, all Christmas season. If it gets bumped by the cat or the kids, there is a snowstorm in the air, no joke. We have to vacuum underneath the Walmart tree daily, not the case with my King of Christmas flocked tree. The King of Christmas Tree still looks new even after a few years of having it and being boxed and unboxed, it is not a lot of work to fluff it when setting it up. My other trees the Walmart and Sears trees take a lot of work to fluff.

The branches and needles on our King of Christmas trees are such high quality, these pictures don't do it justice.  I have a tree that we've had for over 15 years that we purchased from Sears, and while it is very full-looking, you can tell the difference in the needles. The tree from Sears, the lights went out at the ten-year mark. I am curious to see how long my King of Christmas lights last, I will happily report when I find out. Want to see these trees up close and personal in video, check out our TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram.

Now I have two quality Christmas Trees that I am so happy with. When people mention that trees cost $300 or more, I try and remind them that yes, but you will have that tree for at least ten years if not more. Imagine buying a real tree from a tree lot, those are over $100 and you are buying one every year. Buying a quality artificial Christmas tree is totally worth the investment!

If you are like me and you LOVE the Christmas season, treat yourself and get a King of Christmas tree! When I was buying this tree, this year, my sons were like "mom, do you really need another tree?" My response was, "yes, yes I do, Christmas and Christmas trees bring me joy all season long."

I used to wait until the day after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, but in the last few years I have been putting Christmas out earlier and earlier and now I am in love with that. From today November 9th it is only 46 days until Christmas, it really is not that early. You do you, if you want to wait until after Thanksgiving, I will be having my trees up sometime in early November.

If this post inspired you to go ahead and purchase your King of Christmas, please use my affiliate link here https://shrsl.com/3s8xw. I earn a few dollars at no extra cost to you. If you are not quite ready, PIN this post for later, I appreciate your support. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
