Today is officially the first day of Fall, so happy Fall! With Fall we welcome cooler weather and all things pumpkin spice, and let us not forget about all things apple, apple cider, apple donuts, and pies. Fall is full of family fun and delicious treats. I wanted to share some fun Fall family local events, that I think you should make room in your schedule to enjoy!
First, it is not officially, officially, Fall in the Northern California area, until you have made a trip up to Apple Hill, am I right? Apple Hill is an absolute MUST! Near Placerville, in between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, you'll find Apple Hill. I believe they have over 50 local family farms, a beautiful community dedicated to supporting agriculture in our community. Founded in 1964 with just 16 apple ranches, they have now grown to include fruit and vegetable farms, bakeshops, a Bed and Breakfast Inn, flower gardens, and Christmas tree farms. Our favorite Apple Hill visits are Boa Vista Orchard, High Hill Ranch, Delfino Farms, Larsen's Apple Barn, and Abel's Apple Acres. If you can visit on a weekday that is the best time to visit, if you can only go on a weekend, go super early and bring your patience, because traffic can back up, especially at the most visited Farms like our favorites. If you find yourself up on a weekend when it is packed, maybe visit one of the farms that are not on the main road.
Every Fall, we also aim to make a visit to Bishop's Pumpkin Farm, if you have not been recently, it is a must-visit, they have added new attractions. They are open now through November 6th. They are located at 1415 Pumpkin Lane in Wheatland, CA. I recommend going as early in the season as you can because it only gets busier towards Halloween. I also recommend going on a weekday if you are able to. The weekends are extremely busy. You can save money by purchasing ticket bundles for the attractions as well as visiting on free parking days, be sure to check online here.
