Looking for local family fun? Check out Tree Top Sac, our family was recently hosted to see just how fun it is.  Our boys had the best time, even dad joined in on the adventure! I must add right now is the best time to go, we had the perfect Fall weather.

Tree Top Sac is an outdoor adventure park just 10 minutes from Downtown right in West Sacramento.  Imagine an Obstacle Course in the air, in the trees, that is Tree Top Sac.  If you have kiddos who love to Zip Line and are fans of American Ninja Warrior, this is the PERFECT spot.  My sons love to Zip Line, but often at either the Pumpkin Farm or other places we have gone, they can only go on once.  They LOVED that they were able to enjoy Zip Line fun, multiple times.  You will start with a beginners course and then continue each time to a more advanced climb, my boys completed all the climbs and did some of them more than once.

Once you reserve your climb time on-line, you are sent waivers to complete on-line.  On your climb date you will want to arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your climb reservation.  It is easy to check in.  You can bring gloves with you, as you will use the ropes to climb, gloves help make it a little easier on your hands.  We purchased gloves on-site at Tree Top Sac, so if you do not have gloves or forget your gloves, you can always purchase gloves on-site.  We did a day climb, they also have night climbs which would be great fun for teenagers.

Step One is Gear Introduction - The Guides will help you get into your gear, harness and helmet and double check for proper fitting.  The Guides are fantastic by the way, they were very watchful, willing to help, they even tightened my children's gear throughout the time we were at the park. The guides were encouraging on the more advanced courses, cheering on the kids and offering tricks and tips.

After Gear Introduction you head to Ground School.  Kind of like a beginners training area, you walk through a mini-course to learn how to clip into the rope system for a safe climb.  I was surprised at how necessary this part is especially for kids, adults had a quicker and easier grasp of how to operate the gear.  Once my boys did it a couple of times they got the hang of it.  I would prepare your children especially younger ones, to ask for help if they need help, the Guides are extremely friendly and helpful. A great opportunity to remind your kiddos that it is okay to ask questions and ask for help.

There are different levels of climbing, you will start with level one and then progress onward after completion.  You will always ask for "clear to climb" after securing in and to be sure no one is in front of you when you are ready for the zip line.

There are bridges, tight wires to walk on, slack wire to balance on 20 feet above the ground, beams to walk on and jump to, my boys got a work out and had the best time.  There are five different parcours and at the end of each parcour you ride an awesome Zip Line.

Kids ages 7-13 are $49 and are required to be accompanied by one participating adult for every 2-5 kids.  Teens ages 14-17 are $54 and adults are $59.  Be sure to visit their website for height and weight requirements.

My little guy is only six so he sat this one out.  I thought it would be good for my little guy to watch big brothers so he could go when he is old enough and I was pleasantly surprised Tree Top Sac has other activities like bean bag toss, giant Jenga blocks, and more.  They provide some outdoor fun for anyone that may be waiting.  They also have a park right next to it, and right near the park, they have a mini-course perfect those under age seven. My little guy had plenty to do while we waited for big brothers and dad. There are picnic tables to sit and squirrels watch as well, so if you have little ones, they could tag along, as long as you have an adult to go on the courses with your kids ages 7-13.

After our climb, which was about two-hours 30 minutes, we saw a family having a birthday party on site. I asked my boys if they would like to do that and they all shouted "YES"!  I agree and think this is a perfect place to have a birthday party! If you are part of a youth sports team, this would be great team building experience too.  Check out their website for group pricing.

On another note, a pass here would make a great stocking stuffer this Christmas.  I love gifting experiences and as a mom of four boys who have plenty of toys and gadgets, I always appreciate experience/activity gifts such as something like this. Tree Top Sac has gift cards and gift certificates available!
