Looking for something FREE to do with the family? Go for a walk or bike ride along the Johnny Cash Trail.

Located in Folsom, well it is actually a large trail, there is more than one point of entrance.  We like to park near the Folsom Zoo and Library, and hop on the path from there, you can park near old Historic Downtown Folsom and enter near the bridge.

My husband used to work in Folsom, once in a while we would visit him on his lunch break and walk along the bridge, and have a picnic lunch, it was always a nice time, spotting nature and watching the bike riders.

Recently while our boys were on Spring Break, we went and walked the trail, it was a beautiful spring day with perfect weather and we all enjoyed the sights and sounds of nature.  My sons took turns practicing their photography skills and took the photos in this blog post.

If you have not been out on the Johnny Cash Trail yet, I highly recommend you plan a visit, while in Folsom, you could make a day of it and walk the trail, have lunch at one of the great restaurants along Sutter Street. Even plan a visit to the Folsom Outlets for some shopping.

There are plans in the future for an Art Experience, where seven world class interactive art sculptures will be brought to the trail.  You can see a map of the Johnny Cash Trail here

An Americana Fest is coming soon to celebrate music and support the arts. Folsom American Fest takes place at the Dan Russell Arena, right next to the Johnny Cash Trail at 403 Stafford Street. Concerts will take place from July 30 - Oct 16. The exact dates will be announced soon. You can purchase tickets here.  There will be special musical guests from around the United States from a variety of genres including Country, Bluegrass, Folk and more.

I hope you will make the time and explore this beautiful trail, you can read more about the history and future of the trail online here
